Staff Spotlight: Haydn
How long have you worked for Saymor?
I’ve been working here for around 6 years.
What is your role?
I’m a sales person and delivery driver. It’s really nice to do aspects of both.
How did you first discover the company?
I was a customer initially and used to shop in here frequently. I have been friends with Leigh for around 20 years and he mentioned to me that there might be a job going here. I said I was very interested and here I am. Leigh and I have been friends for so long and it’s nice that we get to work together.
What is your favourite product?
I really like the natural collection. I just think the products are really good quality - you can’t beat it.
Do you live locally? If so, where?
Yes, I’ve lived in Ross since 1987, so 30 years now. I lived in the Forest of Dean to start off with and then moved over here and haven’t looked back since.
What is your favourite memory of working at Saymor?
There’s been a lot! Leigh and I got the van stuck while we were delivering and we walked about half a mile to look for someone to help pull us out. We saw a house with a Land Rover and knocked on the door. It turns out he was the one we were meant to be delivering to, so he helped pull us out and took his mattress after.
What is your favourite part of the job?
I like dealing with the people. It’s nice because we get to meet a lot of people from many different background and it’s really interesting. Everyone has a different story to tell and I just really enjoy talking to all the different customers.
What would you say is the biggest challenge about working in the stores?
It’s probably finding what is right for the customer. Every one is different but I like the challenge of finding the right product for them. We’re lucky enough here to have a wide selection of products and customers leave here feeling happy with what they have purchased, which is a really good feeling.
What is your biggest tip for someone who is looking for a new mattress?
I’d say you need to try before you buy. Come into the store and see what we have. You spend about a third of your life in bed so it’s important that the mattress you buy suits you.
What do you think are going to be the hottest sleep products this year?
The natural collection again. It’s just such good quality and I think it will sell really well this year.
