Pillow Talk: find the best place to rest your head

We often talk about how your mattress can influence how much sleep you’re getting at night, but what about the bedding that goes with it? A good quality pillow that supports your preferred sleeping position can make a huge difference to your quality of sleep. But, with a variation of fillings, sizes, and levels of support, picking your perfect pillow can seem like a daunting task. That’s why we’ve come up with a simple guide to help you find the best product to rest your head.

The role of the pillow is to elevate your head and neck, keeping your body perfectly aligned. So, the first thing to consider when looking for your perfect pillow is your sleeping position. If you sleep on your back, a firm, medium pillow should provide you with the correct level of support. However, if you sleep on your front, a soft pillow with light support would be best, as the head only needs to be lifted slightly to keep the body aligned. Sideways sleepers require a lot more support, so we recommend a thick, medium to firm support pillow.

The next thing to consider is the material. Do you want your pillow to be stuffed with natural or synthetic filling? If you have allergies or want it to be machine washable, a microfiber filling is best for you. But, if you’re not sensitive to natural fillings, it may be worth considering a feather and down pillow which provide naturally plump support. In this case, it may be best to invest in a pillow protector which will reduce the need for regular laundering.

At Saymor, we sell a range of premium pillows in soft, medium, firm, and specialist support options. With both natural and synthetic fillings to choose from, pop into one of our stores and our lovely team will help you pick the perfect pillow for your needs.
