Happy World Book Day
Today marks World Book Day, where great literature is celebrated all over the world. And, where better to catch up on the latest reads than tucked up in a nice cosy bed?
Reading a good book in bed is shown to have a considerable impact on how well you sleep. Researchers at the University of Exeter found that reading is one of the best ways to unwind before going to bed. In fact, it is more effective at reducing stress than listening to music, going for a walk or even drinking a good old fashioned cuppa!
But what type of books should we be reading? According to the Valley Sleep Centre, we should opt for a light-hearted and fun book to help us doze off. They say this could be anything from a bit of humour written by a stand-up comedian such as Food: A love story by Jim Flannigan, to a quintessential novel by the likes of Ernest Hemmingway. As long as it calms the mind and helps you de-stress, you’re good to go.
So, whether it’s travel, comedy or a classic novel, let’s all grab a good book and sleep well tonight!
